2025.10.03Forum Engineering Fosters Japan-India University Ties; Tokyo University of Science Dean Lectures at SRM University
Forum Engineering Inc. (hereafter “the Company”) operates "Discover India," a short-term academic exchange program that supports university collaboration between the two nations by inviting Japanese students and professors in science and engineering to India. This "Discover India" program recently served as a catalyst for a new personnel exchange between the Faculty of Science and Technology at the Tokyo University of Science and India's SRM Institute of Science and Technology (hereafter "SRM University"). Following this, the Dean of the Faculty, Kiyoshi Dowaki, visited India to conduct academic exchange with the university and its students, during which he delivered a special lecture.
This time, Dean Dowaki visited the Chennai campus of SRM University, which has a cooperative relationship with the Company. In August 2025, the Tokyo University of Science, led by Associate Professor Hideki Yaginuma of the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology, implemented an academic exchange program that invited seven students and one accompanying faculty member from SRM University to Japan. Dean Dowaki's visit to SRM University is a continuation of this academic exchange (this academic exchange program was implemented by the Japan Science and Technology Agency's (JST) "Sakura Science Program").
The Company helped publicize Dean Dowaki's lecture, which drew a crowd of over 300 students from various faculties at SRM University. The attendees were primarily fourth-year students planning to advance to graduate school next year. These students, interested in enrolling in graduate programs at Japanese universities, listened intently to the Dean's lecture and asked numerous questions. Among the questions were inquiries about the challenges in their own research and how to achieve a breakthrough by solving them. In addition, there were many questions regarding admission to the graduate school of the Faculty of Science and Technology at the Tokyo University of Science.
The Company’s "Discover India" program was created out of a desire for Japanese students and professors to experience the remarkable development of India firsthand. This program was jointly developed with the Company’s Indian subsidiary, Cognavi India Private Limited, and SRM University, a renowned private university in India. In the fiscal year ending March 2025, eight universities participated (14 professors and 46 students), and the program is scheduled to run again in the fiscal year ending March 2026. Through this "Discover India" program, we have invited students and faculty from the Tokyo University of Science to India, supporting personnel exchange with SRM University.
Moving forward, the Company will continue to promote initiatives that support personnel and academic exchange between Indian universities and Japanese science and engineering universities. Furthermore, in March 2025, the Company launched "Work in Japan," an initiative that connects new graduate students from India seeking employment as mechanical, electrical, and IT engineers with companies in Japan and will continue to support Indian students who wish to find employment in Japan.
